The university offers both on-campus and off-campus accommodation options to its aspirants which are available in different styles and with different facilities at varying prices. Candidates can choose the available option as per their needs and pocket.

  • The university guarantees on-campus residence to its 1st-year students plus the added benefits of personal and academic support in a culturally enriching environment.
  • The accommodation is offered in either the main residences or the 4 on-campus University Colleges, with the student capacity of 320 to 1,380 and 142 to 360, respectively.
  • The available residencies have various alternatives like single and double-sharing rooms, apartments or suites and traditional dorm-style rooms to choose from.
  • The cost for on-campus accommodation depending upon the term, hall and room of choice ranges from 2,400-3,200 CAD per term.

Scholarships

The huge array of University of Waterloo Scholarships is one of the reasons why international students choose to study here at Waterloo. Every year, the university works closely with faculties, departments, and external agencies to design and promote scholarships for international students. For the academic year 2018-2019, the University of Waterloo awarded 130,311 CAD in internal funding, a good portion of which was dedicated to international scholarship programs.

Apart from scholarships, bursaries are available to support students with financial need. University of Waterloo scholarships and bursaries are awarded in early May after the office receives updated grades. Most scholarships do not require a separate application as you will be evaluated based on your application for admission to the University of Waterloo. But there are some exceptions to it.

University of Waterloo Scholarships for Bachelor Students

The university’s Student Awards and Financial Office (SAFA) administers 100+ scholarships for international students in the bachelor program, whether they are newly-admitted students or continuing students.

Talking about the University of Waterloo scholarships for incoming international students, the majority of the scholarships are admission-based. This is applicable for both the general and faculty-specific scholarship program.

None of the Waterloo in-course scholarships have any restrictions in terms of nationality. Domestic and international students are eligible for all the scholarship programs. External Funding at the University of Waterloo

Even though the University of Waterloo Scholarships are sufficient for the masters and doctoral students, there are a few external scholarships available to them. The university encourages international students to apply for these external scholarships are this would make it easier for them to study in Canada.

However, please remember that many of the University of Waterloo graduate scholarships are not compatible with external funds. For example, the recipient of the Ontario Trillium Scholarship may not be eligible for some of the university’s internal scholarships.
