Lincoln University is a highly-ranked public institution for higher education and research. Established as the School of Agriculture in 1878, the institution went through various structural and name changes over the years. A constituent college of the University of Canterbury since 1961, Lincoln College was made an independent university in 1990.

The university has accreditations from the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES), New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI), and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). It has a membership of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS).

Situated in New Zealand's Lincoln town, the university has a 143-acre campus in Christchurch outskirts that consists of administrative offices, academic buildings, recreational and parking spaces, residence halls, and sports facilities. The university library offers an extensive collection of rare and unique printed and digital resources related to different subjects of study. The campus features a bookshop, printing center, boxing studio, fitness center, training hall, and social spaces. Other facilities offered on the campus include free Wi-Fi connectivity, student support system, health services, and counseling. The university has six residence halls that offer on-campus housing facilities to students. The university also manages several off-campus rented accommodations.

Lincoln University has an extensive list of alumni who are highly successful and distinguished in their respective fields. Few notable names in the alumni list are Richie McCaw (former Rugby Union player), Allan James Hubbard (businessman), Margaret Mary Barry (politician), Samuel Lawrence Whitelock (Rugby Union player), Sir Bob Charles (professional golfer), Colin Campbell (radio and TV presenter), Mark Joseph Inglis (researcher and mountaineer), Margaret Elizabeth Austin (former politician), Annabel Rose Langbein (writer and celebrity cook), Toni Street (sports commentator and TV presenter), John Bernard Hayes (politician and diplomat) and Donald Charles McKinnon (politician).

Accomodation

Description

  • The university offers eight fully-catered Halls of Residence and three sets of self-catered units, all within a five minute walk of each other
  • Generally, first-year students reside in the catered halls and those that are more mature live in our self-catered flats

Scholarships

The scholarships offered by the University are:

  • English for further study award

This scholarship can be availed by any student who successfully finishes at least 12 weeks’ EAP. It offers rebate of 5,400 NZD in tuition fee to students enrolling in certificate/UG programmes.

  • International taught master merit scholarships

Any international student who has completed Bachelors with 75% aggregate/B+ grade is eligible to avail this scholarship worth 10,000 NZD.

  • Degrees offering merit scholarship of 7,000 to 10,000 NZD

Lincoln University also grants 7,000 to 10,000 NZD to meritorious students enrolled in different masters programs. The amount awarded varies as per the course one is registered in.
