Being one of the oldest universities in Sweden, KTH Royal Institute of Technology is a Public Research University that was established in 1827 in Central Stockholm. With a world ranking of #98, as per QS World Ranking 2021, the university contributes to one-third of Sweden’s total technical research capacity. Presently, the university is home to over 13,000 full-time courses and 1,600 doctoral students pursuing over 62 UG & PG-level KTH courses.
All these programs at KTH are offered through its 5 schools- School of Architecture and Built Environment, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering Science in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health, School of Engineering Sciences, and School of Industrial Engineering and Management. Moreover, KTH Royal Institute of Technology schools are distributed amongst its 5 different campuses.
In terms of research, KTH has primary responsibilities for five national strategic research areas, namely, E-science, IT and mobile communication, Transport research, Production engineering, and Molecular Biosciences. In addition to these, the university collaborated with other public sector universities in Sweden- Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University.
