Accomodation
So you’re moving to the big city? Here are a few resources that will help you with your move.
Moving to Toronto will require students to locate suitable accommodations, preferably close to campus. As our campus’ do not have Residence or on-campus housing, we maintain lists of accommodations, which are generally shared apartments, rooms in private homes, or Home Stay arrangements with a local family.
Home Stay Opportunities
If you would prefer to stay with a host family, you might consider the option of Home Stay. This option provides a family environment to enjoy the comforts of a home and hosts that can answer your questions and provide insight into Toronto and Canadian life. In addition, you may be staying with other International Students who you can connect with! Home Stay provides access to the living areas in the house, as well as television, laundry and Internet. Fees vary, (depending on the meal plan and the Home Stay company), but costs are approximately $750/ month.
Student Housing Information
Enrolment Services maintains a list of accommodations to assist students in location suitable housing – generally shared apartment or rooms within a private home.
Financial and leasing arrangements are made between individual students and property owners. Many may require a down payment, including prepayment of the first and last month’s rent. Students who need help locating housing or who have problems related to their accommodations should contact the International Office.
We provide students with a list for short-term/temporary housing opportunities until longer-term arrangements are made. As each Toronto Film School has three different locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), we have broken down the options geographically.
ESL Pathway Program Information
Students studying at the Toronto Film School ESL Pathway Program are encouraged to stay in a homestay for the duration of the ESL Pathway Program. Living in an English environment helps students learn the language, and will contribute to their cultural experience in Canada.
Homestay accommodation prices per week vary from $230 -$250, plus any additional fees related to registration, placement, and special requests.
Please contact your admissions advisor for information about how to arrange a homestay placement.
