Program Description
You’ll become proficient in numerical analysis, digitised accounting, problem solving, and numerical report writing as you enhance your professional skills, such as communication and digital literacy. Kick-start your career with exemptions from professional qualifications. Stand out from the crowd with practical experience solving real world business challenges. While closed book exams are required to earn professional exemptions, other evaluation options such as professional report writing, group presentations and company projects, help prepare you for work. We actively support you in boosting your CV through industry placement, study abroad or internships (including the latest online bite-sized digital experiences). If you are interested in corporate finance and business decision making alongside accountancy, our BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course may also be of interest.
Where you'll study
Your teaching is on our modern de Havilland Campus, with our24/7 Learning Resources Centre, featuring open and private study spaces. You also get online self-study materials to further support you. There are dining options, a bar, and a recreational space on campus where you can shoot some pool or play video games. It also houses Hertfordshire Sports Village, which features a gym, swimming pool, coffee shop, and a climbing wall. Discover the Enterprise Hub, a vibrant destination where local firms and students work and learn in comfort. The Student Union bar and additional facilities are only a 20 minute walk (or short bus ride) away at our College Lane Campus. Student housing is available at both campuses. What will I study?
With a focus on consultative accounting and financial storytelling, you’ll be prepared for a career in today’s accounting world, finding significance in the figures. There are four modules in each semester. Each module has a good mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. You'll also get to apply what you've learned to real-life business challenges. In your first year, you’ll learn the principles of accounting, alongside analytical techniques, digital and professional skills. In your second year, you’ll expand your understanding of the subject including financial management and professional development with the option to study business analytics. In your final year, you’ll explore advanced financial reporting and management accounting and the latest accounting trends. You’ll also have to pick options in areas that interest you, such as Research Methods, Taxation, Islamic Banking and Finance, or Information Systems. There are also opportunities to further enrich your personal development through our GoHerts certification program, placements, internships, study abroad and Future Success networking events.Other Requirements
