Program Description

In 1998, the four-year Degree Course in “Motor Sciences” was instituted in Italy, replacing the “Istituto Superiore di Educazione Fisica” (ISEF).
The University of Pavia, in the Academic Year 1998-1999, activated this degree which is also stimulated by the sport tradition of the University, and through the activity of CUS Pavia the degree has seen numerous athletes emerge and achieve high-level results witnessed by world and Olympic laurels.
In 200, the innovation of the rearrangement of university studies with the introduction of university degrees and specialization classes, involvedthe current degree in “Scienze Motorie”.
For this reason, at the University of Pavia and the branch office of Voghera, within Degrees in Sciences of Motor and Sport Activities, established the Inter-Faculty Degree courses from the Academic Year 2001-2002 including physical education, sports techniques, and preventive motor education, and were adapted thanks to the participation of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and Engineering.
The Degree courses were subsequently reorganized and aimed at providing the scientific bases and technical-practical preparation necessary for the understanding, design, and management of educational, adaptive, recreational and sporting physical activities aimed at the development, maintenance and recovery of movement skills and psychophysical well-being related to them.
The three-year degree course in “Motor Sciences” is organized into two curricula:
1. “educazione fisica e tecnica sportiva”;
2. “attività motoria preventiva e adattata”.

Career opportunities

The course aims to give the graduate adequate and specific skills for the design, management of educational activities, recreational sports, aimed at improving performance, development and maintenance of motricity and psychophysical well-being of the individual through the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The professional graduate in Sports Science shall:
- Collaborate on educational literacy projects as a support to the responsible teacher;
- Work as a sports coach or operator in the training methodology;
- Supervise safety in sports facilities.
