Program Description
The course aims to provide a multidisciplinary preparation in the field of foreign languages and cultures. The goal is to train professionals able to integrate profitably into the various sectors requiring the knowledge of several foreign languages and cultures. The organization of the Degree Program foresees that the students opt, from the first year, for one of the two curricula offered: the professionalizing “Languages for business”, or the methodological “Linguistic-philological-literary” which allows access to the second cycle course(Master’s Degree in European and American Literature). The curriculum “Languages for business”, in addition to the basic preparation in general linguistics, Italian literature and computer science, guarantees the acquisition of four skills in three foreign languages and aims to train professionals able to enter profitably into work areas that require expertise in foreign languages and a knowledge of the related cultural contexts.
This training is also supplemented by basic legal / economic / sociological knowledge useful for the coordination of inter-linguistic and intercultural relations.
In the second year, an additional course is available which includes the study of literatures of two foreign languages, aimed at facilitating access to Master’s Degrees and the continuation of studies.
The “Modern Languages and Cultures” methodological curriculum, in addition to the basic preparation in general linguistics, Italian literature and the philology related to the chosen languages, proposes the acquisition of four skills in two foreign languages, the e in-depth study of corresponding literatures, as well as the theoretical and methodological tools necessary for the critical investigation in the various fields of philological / literary / linguistic studies.
The formation of this curriculum, based on the knowledge of several foreign languages and cultures, allows graduates to work as translators and intercultural communicators, in public and private cultural organizations.
