  • McMaster University offers a Master of Science in Nursing for a duration of 2 years.
  • It is an on-campus, a thesis, and a course-based program offered on a full-time basis.
    • The program provides registered nurses with the opportunity to advance their education and become leaders in nursing practice, education, research, and policy. 
    • MSc program offers 3 types of streams that are:
      • Thesis
      • Course-Based
      • Course-based Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner
      • The Nursing program enables graduates to function as associate investigators in their selected areas of interest.
      • The 3 areas of excellence provide students with a range of opportunities for advanced education and research in Nursing on a full- and part-time basis. The research areas of the Nursing program are:

        • Healthy Equity and Disparity
        • Health System Integration and Innovation
      • With the increased knowledge of the theoretical basis of practice, students will be able to play a role in evolving health care systems and the student-faculty ratio of this program is 28:1.
      • For the thesis-based degree, students will demonstrate the knowledge of appropriate clinical research methods, including the development of clinical measures and the determination of clinical and program efficiency.
      • For the course-based master's degree, students will demonstrate the ability to apply advanced scientific theory to their professional practice.
      • The program offers studies leading to the MSc and PhD, as well as Graduate Diplomas in Advanced Neonatal Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.

      Eligibility & Entry Requirement

      Academic Eligibility:
      • Students must complete a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (60 units taken at a university) from a recognized university.
      • Students have a minimum B+ grade over the final 60 units from an undergraduate nursing program.
      • Complete a thesis on an approved health care issue and defend the thesis at a final oral examination.
      Indian Student Eligibility:
      • Completed a 4-year UG degree from a recognized institution.
      • Or, completed a 3-year UG degree from a recognized University.
      Submission of GRE scores is not compulsory for this program, however, if students have given the GRE exam then it is recommended to submit the scores (minimum 300) for a better chance of admission.
