Program Description

  • As society evolves, crime changes too. From the student's first day on the course, they will consider how criminological theory, and the crime itself, changes. The student will start by looking at the history of criminological thought. This will help the student understand different types of deviance and how they are shaped by developments in society.
  • As the students progress, they can choose from a range of modules covering varied topics. This allows them to tailor their degree according to their interests and future career ambitions.
  • In specialist modules, the student will learn the qualitative and quantitative research methods used by criminologists and apply them to their own research. The course will introduce the student to the different theoretical perspectives they will use to analyze topics such as Victimology, the study of victims of crime, Deviance, Terrorism, and Murder.
