Program Description

  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology at Georgian College is offered as a 3 years (6 semesters) program.
  • It is an on-campus, co-op program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This program is accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE), Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC), and by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
  • This program offers students advanced courses in electrical power systems, robotics, programmable logic controllers, networking, instrumentation, and project management.
  • Students gain hands-on experience in associated lab classes using state of the art hardware and test equipment. 
  • These courses, together with experience gained in three co-op work terms with industry partners, provide students with a broad technical background and a wide range of employment opportunities in the electrical industry.
  • Students have to successfully complete 32 program courses, 2 Communications courses, 2 general education courses, and 3 co-op work terms.
  • Co-op work terms are scheduled according to a formal sequence that alternates academic and co-op semesters.
  • Students who have graduated from Georgian College’s Electrical Techniques Certificate program (ELTQ) must apply to be admitted with advanced standing.
  • Georgian College offers awards, scholarships, and bursaries to students of all walks of life-domestic, international and Indigenous, full-time and part-time, first years, upcoming graduates, and everyone in between.
  • The numbers of jobs in the electrical automation sector have been growing steadily, including opportunities in specialised robotics manufacturers, automotive support industries, and equipment manufacturers. 
  • The average salary goes up to 38,000 USD after completion of the program.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students have to complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with
    • Grade 12 English (C or U)
    • Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U)
  • Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school students may also be considered for admission.
  • Students who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing also get admission to this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
  • Diploma / Degree certificate Mark sheets for each year of study.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
