Master of Nursing at the University of Regina is offered as a 2-years (4 sessions) program.
This program is offered on a full-time basis.
The program consists of a Thesis, a project, course work, and an optional internship.
A student is required to complete a minimum of 60 credits successfully.
Major components for this program are:
- Knowledge of nursing theory
- Practice with legal authority and autonomy
- Perform specific medical procedures
- The clinical diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge
The student to faculty ratio for the nursing program is 20:1.
This course is accredited by CASN (Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing).
A student could choose Mental Health, Geriatrics, Indigenous Studies, Palliative Care, Maternity, Med/Surg, Pediatrics.
The thesis-based master’s program provides the introduction to scholarly activities and research and is generally critical to students intending further study at the doctoral level.
The course-based master’s program is intended to broaden the perspective and expand advanced knowledge in a particular discipline or professional field.
Project options are categorized as informal evaluations, and informal defenses are not vetted through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.
Students may have job opportunities as Nurse Practitioner, Nurse practitioners act as primary care providers, Nurse Anesthetist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner.
The average salary goes up to 35,000 USD after completing this program.

Academic Eligibility:

An overall grade point average of 75% in the last 60 credit hours of most recent post-secondary studies
Completion of an approved baccalaureate nursing program
Students have to complete an undergraduate degree, normally in Nursing.
Completion of a minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice experience as an RN within the last five years
Institutional TOEFL is not accepted.
GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (B grade).
Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and GRE to get admission in this program.

Work Experience Eligibility:

Students have at least two years of experience in a focused clinical area to be demonstrated on a CV.
For the thesis-based Nursing program, admission is offered based upon publications, participation in research projects, and academic awards.

Indian Student EligibilityIndian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Students with a marginally lower four-year average may be accepted if their performance in the last two complete years is significantly higher (75% or more)
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
