Program Description

  • The Bachelor of Journalism (Pre-Journalism) is a 4-year program at the University of Regina.
  • Students will learn newspaper and magazine writing, television and radio news and documentary production, digital editing, and desktop and Internet publishing. 
  • The main topics of the program are:
    • Media
    • Power and Communication Rights
    • Photo Journalism
    • Investigative Journalism
    • Print Editing
    • Advanced Interviewing
  • Students will be encouraged to challenge conventional wisdom and develop their own writing style.
  • Students spend a semester on an internship in a radio, television, newspaper, magazine, or Internet newsroom.
  • To begin this degree students will need to register in the Faculty of Arts as a Pre-Journalism student and Entrance into the School of Journalism is competitive and happens after 2nd year (60 credit hours) is complete.
  • The acceptance rate of this program is 85%.
  • After graduating from this program, students have job opportunities as reporters, writers, editors, and many more.
