Program Description
Program Description
- Graduates of this program have a solid understanding of the fundamental quantitative tools from economic theory, probability, statistics, optimization, and computer science, all of which are becoming increasingly vital in the financial industry.
 - While there has been much debate in recent months about the role of quantitative finance in the financial crisis, the financial industry has increasingly placed a strong emphasis on quantitative tools and analysis as it seeks to rebuild itself and strengthen risk management practices.
 - A driving force behind these developments is a lively exchange of ideas between academia and the financial industry, a collaboration that is the closest parallel in the social sciences to the academic-private sector interactions routinely seen in engineering and the applied sciences.
 - The Master in Finance program is intended to prepare students for a wide range of careers both inside and outside the financial industry, including financial engineering and risk management, quantitative asset management, macroeconomic and financial forecasting, quantitative trading, and applied research.
 - Although the program does not require prior work experience in finance, in recent years having some exposure to finance -- e.g., an internship -- has been essential in an increasingly challenging job market.
 - Master of Science in Computer Science at Princeton University is offered as a 2-year teaching program.
 - This program has a co-op work option.
 - In order to be eligible to participate in a full-time Co-op Work Term, students must meet the GPA requirements.
 - The student to faculty ratio is 16:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
 - Some of the main courses that students will study in this program are:
- Budget analysis
 - Business strategy
 - Financial accounting
 - Financial reporting
 - Forensic accounting
 - Information systems

 - The master's degree program at Princeton is a two-year, full-time program. All admitted students are initially enrolled in the Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.), thesis-required track.
 - In the spring of year 1, as part of readmission, all students are given the option to switch to the Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), non-thesis track. Students opting to remain on the M.S.E. track must have a confirmed research adviser and should also have a preliminary thesis proposal. Switching tracks will be permitted through January of year 2.
 - Career positions may include:
- Corporate Finance
 - Public Accounting
 - Portfolio Management
 - Financial Planning
 - Stock Broking
