Program Description

  • University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering- Mechanical Engineering for a duration of 4 years (8 terms).
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • In UNB’s Mechanical Engineering program, students will learn to analyze, design, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.
  • Students will gain the skills that need to create and build mechanical devices such as spacecraft and artificial limbs, to design automation, medical tools, robotics, and ventilation systems, etc.
  • Students get the hand-on learning experience through:
    • Co-operative Education (Co-op) program
    • Coursework requiring hands-on design projects
    • On-campus machine shop for building and testing prototypes
  • Students are required to prepare and present a final year technical report based on an extensive design topic of relevance to mechanical engineering.
  • The Department of Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program offers two paths of specialization: biomedical engineering and mechatronics.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students have to complete the following requirements for the programs:
    • Senior English Literature (70% or higher)
    • Senior Math, including Pre-Calculus (70% or higher)
    • 1 other academic math
    • Senior Chemistry  and Physics (70% or higher)
    • 1 elective from group 1, 2, or 4 (60% or higher)
  • The minimum admission average of the students for the program is 75%.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • All India Senior School Certificate grades of 60% or higher
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE).
