Program Description

  • University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) offers a Bachelor of Computer Science for a duration of 4 years (8 terms).
  • It is an on-campus, co-op program offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.
  • This program is a combination of theory and practical experience.
  • The Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) program consists of 40 courses:
    • 14 computer science core courses
    • 5 mathematics and statistics core courses
    • 10 breadth courses from the faculties of Arts, Engineering, Management and Science
    • 7 technical electives
    • 4 free electives courses.
  • Students can use free electives to complete a specialization in cybersecurity.
  • In this program, students gain valuable work experience and earn money through the co-op program.
  • The co-op option incorporates eight to 12 months of work terms.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students have to complete Senior English Literature and Senior Math, including Pre-Calculus with 60% or higher.
  • Students hold 1 other academic math, 1 of Senior Biology, Senior Chemistry, or Senior Physics with 65% or higher.
  • Students also complete 1 elective course from group 1 or 2 with 60% or higher.
  • The minimum admission average of the students for the program is 75%.
Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • All India Senior School Certificate grades of 60% or higher
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE).
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
