Program Description
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music at York University is offered as a 3-year teaching program.
- It is an on-campus, honors course offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.

- Presenting more than 100 student and faculty concerts a year, as well as masterclasses with renowned Canadian and international artists, the Department of Music, offers countless opportunities to perform and collaborate.
- In addition to the many student-led ensembles, students can be part of numerous formal ensembles, including:
- Symphony Orchestra
- Jazz Orchestra and Choirs
- West African Drums
- Concert and Chamber Choirs
- New Music Ensemble
- Gospel Choir
- and many more
- This program is known for pioneering post-secondary studies in jazz, world, classical and digital music.
- All first-year Music students enter the BFA program.
- After the first year, students whose interests center on music history, criticism, and scholarly research may choose to move to the BA program.
- Courses and workshops in popular music and in non-western performance traditions, such as South Indian, Chinese orchestra, Indonesian gamelan, Caribbean, West African drumming, and Celtic Canadian, are regular features of the program.
- York's Sound and Moving Image Library (SMIL) houses a multidisciplinary media collection available to the York University community for educational, research, and personal use.

Academic Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- Students must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
- Students must have to complete the following course such as:
- English (ENG4U)
- Five additional 4U or M courses
- A supplementary evaluation is required after students can apply for admission.
- Depending on students’ combined performance in academics, audition, portfolio review, and/or interview, their admission average required for this program is in the mid-70s.
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
