Program Description

  • Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media at York University is offered as a 3-year teaching program.
  • This course is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.
  • The Digital Media program focuses on the study of 3D simulations and animation, artistic theories, and cultural impact.
  • It inspires people with imaginative digital art installations or designs of the next generation of gaming technology.
  • As Digital Media students, they will learn about the raw tools that help create digital imagery and sound, including animation and 3D simulations.
  • They will also study larger concepts like artistic theories and the cultural impact of digital media on the world. Most importantly, they will learn to create.
  • Students will begin the program by completing a common core of courses in the 1st year.
  • Students will select from one of three specializations based on their interest: Digital Media Development (DMD) has a greater focus on computer science or Digital Media Arts (DMA) that focuses more on fine arts and the brand new Digital Media Game Arts.
  • Students will have an opportunity to participate in Lassonde’s paid internship program to get valuable professional experience.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  •  Students must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
  •  Students must have to complete the following course such as:
    • English (ENG4U)
    • 4U maths (minimum grade of 75% required)
    • Four additional 4U or M courses – recommendation(s) below:
      • 4M arts (or similar arts training)
  • To gain admission to this program, the student’s academic average should be in the mid-70s.
Indian Student Eligibility: 

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
  • Students also have to complete the Grade XII math course.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
