Program Description
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts at York University is offered as a 3-year teaching program.
- It is an on-campus, honors course offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.
- The Honours BFA in studio Arts offers a well-rounded, interdisciplinary experience with practical studio training and studies in the history and theory of art.
- The Studio Arts curriculum is designed to give students a thorough grounding in comparative cultural analysis and the production of imagery across a wide range of traditional and contemporary media.
- The BFA Honours degree offers two streams of study:
- Dance Education
- Choreography/Performance
- Following the common first-year experience, students complete their studies in one of the two specialized streams.
- In first-year BFA students cab choose the stream by assessing area strengths demonstrated during the first two academic terms of study (i.e., Fall/Winter).
- University provides the learning skills workshops, outstanding libraries, academic accommodations, and transition programs designed to help students at every step of the way.
- In the initial foundation year, students take courses in all artistic media such as painting, sculpture, print media, drawing, photography, and interdisciplinary art and then choose to specialize in one or more areas.
- At all levels, students are mentored by faculty members who are highly regarded artists with an active professional practice.
- Students get the opportunity to see some of the world’s finest contemporary works at the nationally renowned Art Gallery of York University.
- Visual Arts students have access to a wide range of specialized facilities and resources. The Department houses have a study collection of original artworks and an extensive slide collection.

Academic Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- Students must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
- Students must have to complete the following course such as:
- English (ENG4U)
- Five additional 4U or M courses
- A supplementary evaluation is required after students can apply for admission.
- Depending on students’ combined performance in academics, audition, portfolio review, and/or interview, their admission average required for this program is in the mid-70s.
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
