Program Description

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatics Engineering at York University is offered as 4 years teaching program.

  • The program is consists of a co-op and a BA in International Development Studies which is available for all of the Engineering programs.
  • The Geomatics Engineering program blends the knowledge of science and engineering with information technologies to solve complex, real-world problems.

  • Geomatics engineers focus on the science and technologies related to positioning and navigation, sensors, measurements, and mapping, as well as on spatial awareness and intelligence.
  • Students will get started with the basics in geomatics, surveying and mapping, navigation, sensors, and measurements to assist in building a strong foundation in the discipline.
  • The co-op program after 2nd year allows students to gain professional experience, giving them a head start towards becoming licensed Professional Engineers.
  • In the 3rd and 4th years, students will have the chance to take Field Survey courses. students will learn and use advanced state-of-the-art instruments while putting their professional skills to the test.
  • The Geomatics Engineering program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
  • In Lassonde School of Engineering, the students work together on course projects, design challenges, and even run workshops for other students.
  • University will dive deep into learning about the field student are passionate about, and gain perspective through co-op, internship, entrepreneurship, research, and student clubs.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
  • As an Ontario Secondary School student, here are the courses they need to apply:
    • English
    • Chemistry
    • Physics 
    • Advanced Functions  
    • Calculus and Vectors
  • Students must have a minimum grade of 70% in each of these prerequisite courses.
  • Students must have proof of English language proficiency (for non-native English speakers, i.e. IELTS, TOEFL).
Indian Student Eligibility: 

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
  • Students also have to complete the Grade XII math course.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
