Program Description
- Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at York University is offered as a 4-year teaching program.
- It is an on-campus, honours course offered on a full-time basis.
- The program’s interdisciplinary approach is reflected in complementary relationships with a number of other academic disciplines including anthropology, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, socio-legal studies, and sociology.
- Students are able to choose courses from these disciplines as well as from the core program courses, each of which draws from a range of disciplines and is devoted to making connections between different areas of study.
- The Criminology program will focus on the analysis of:
- crime
- criminality
- processes of criminalization and social control
- organized crime
- systems of justice
- criminal justice systems
- The Criminology program will provide students with an exceptional opportunity to pursue study in this evolving and expanding field.
- In 1st and 2nd year courses, students will introduce the fundamentals of criminology including criminological theories, the criminal justice system, and criminological research methods.
- At the 3rd and 4th year level, students will be able to choose from a range of different course options depending on their interests.

Academic Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- Students must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
- Students must have to complete the following course such as:
- English (ENG4U)
- Five additional 4U or M courses
- 4U math
- To gain admission to this program, the student's academic average should be in the low-80s.
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Indian School Certificate (ISC)
- Intermediate Examination Certificate
- Pre-University Examination Certificate
- Students also have to complete the Grade XII math course.
