Program Description

  • Bachelor of Engineering at York University is offered as a 4-year teaching program.
  • This course is offered by the Lassonde School of Engineering on a full-time basis.
  • This Engineering program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
  • Lassonde’s Engineering program prepares students for a career using state-of-the-art computing labs, a full suite of software development tools, and hands-on experience in the design and development of software products.
  • The department provides various types of Engineering programs such as:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Geomatics Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Software Engineering
    • Space Engineering
  • In a capstone project, Students work with a team to design, test and deploy a significant and exciting product using all the knowledge and skills students have gained.
  • After the second year, students can take part in the co-op program, giving an early start to becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Sample co-op employers are IBM, Ericsson. BMO, Nascent. Students get opportunities to get into these for co-op.
  • Students could develop a program for prosthetic limbs that helps improve mobility or write the code for the next breakthrough in mobile communications.
  • Students have many job opportunities as follows:
    • Embedded Systems Engineer
    • Platform and Infrastructure Engineer
    • Software Architecture Engineer, etc., with an average salary of around 40,000 USD per year.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  •  Students must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
  •  Students must have to complete the following course such as:
    • English (ENG4U)
    • Chemistry (SCH4U)
    • Physics (SPH4U)
    • Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
    • Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
    • And one additional 4U or M courses
    • No prerequisite below 70%
  • To gain admission to this program, the student’s academic average should be in the low-to-mid 80s.
Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
  • Students also have to complete the Grade XII math course.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
