Program Description

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering at York University is offered as 4 years teaching program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.
  • The program is consists of a co-op and a BA in International Development Studies which is available for all of the Engineering programs.
  • Computer engineering forms the basis of the modern world. Self-driving cars, robotics, mobile devices, e-commerce, wireless communications, the Internet of Things, and other advances are all built by Computer Engineers.
  • As a Computer Engineering students, students will gain deep knowledge of hardware and software design, as well as be uniquely qualified to work on computer systems.
  • Students will take courses in computation, system design, and other specialized areas, including robotics and virtual reality.
  • This theoretical knowledge is balanced with hands-on experience.
  • In this program, a strong programming foundation including Object Oriented Programming/Object-Oriented Design, assembly language, multi-threading, design patterns, and unit testing.
  • Bachelor of Engineering program is accredited by CEAB.
  • University also provides co-op and internship opportunities in all of the programs that can get students up to 18 months of on-the-job experience.
  • Students can work a minimum of 12 months up to a maximum of 20 months while on co-op.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students must complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) degree.
  • As an Ontario Secondary School student, here are the courses they need to apply:
    • English
    • Chemistry
    • Physics 
    • Advanced Functions  
    • Calculus and Vectors
  • Students must have a minimum grade of 70% in each of these prerequisite courses.
  • Students must have proof of English language proficiency (for non-native English speakers, i.e. IELTS, TOEFL).
Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
  • Students also have to complete the Grade XII math course.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
