Program Description

  • BA in Philosophy at the University of Victoria is offered as a 4-years program by the Department of Philosophy.

  • Philosophy explores the complex and ever-evolving questions that they face in our everyday lives in a rational and critical way. It addresses fundamental issues relevant to all disciplines about the nature of truth, knowledge, justice, meaning, and beauty.
  • Philosophical issues touch all aspects of life and are relevant to every discipline. In this program, students will explore the most fundamental questions concerning the world and our place in it. 
  • Students will study the nature of truth, justice, knowledge, meaning, and beauty.
  • The BA program consists of a minimum of 60 units.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
Applicants must hold Twelve years of academic preparation and one of the following:
  • Indian School Certificate (CISCE) or All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) awarded after Standard XII with 75% (conditional offer with 80% on Grade 10 results)
  • Year 12 State Board Exams: Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC); applicants with excellent academic results will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Students must have a GPA of 5.0 on a scale of 9.0.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate with reputed institute with min 75%
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
