Program Description
- MA in History at the University of Victoria is offered as a 2-years program by the Department of History.
- The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
- MA in History trains students to communicate rich stories from the past to the widest possible audience.
- The History department offers both thesis-based MA and Project-based Options in the MA in History.
- The MA program consists of a minimum of 15 units.

Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an undergraduate degree in History or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A grade point average of 6.0/9.0 (B+) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.
- Students must complete a Bachelor’s (4 years) degree in History or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
