Program Description
- Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Victoria is offered as a 3-years program by the School of Social Work.
- The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
- MSW students bring diverse history, knowledge, and experience to the School.
- Students are challenged to further existing knowledge and skills within the context of social justice as a core element of practice.
- This program develops critical self-reflection and critical analysis of social work from a variety of difference-centered theories, particularly Indigenous, critical race, post-structural and feminist approaches.
- This program promotes and enhances skills and knowledge for socially just social work practice through the integration of students' own experiences and critical engagement with and analysis of social work knowledge and practice;
- The MSW program consists of a minimum of 31.5 units.

Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a BSW degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A grade point average of 6.0/9.0 (B+ or higher) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.
- Students must complete a BSW degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
