Program Description

  • MEng in Telecommunications and Information Security at the University of Victoria is offered as a 1-year program by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. 
  • The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
  • MTIS is an intensive one-year program that prepares engineers for careers at the forefront of the telecommunications and security industries.
  • The MEng program consists of a minimum of 18 units.
  • UVic’s Master of Engineering in Telecommunications & Information Security will allow you to:
    • think critically in network and database management;
    • develop a strong understanding of corporate security policies and procedures;
    • expand technical knowledge and professional skills; and
    • gain practical and industrial experience.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students must have an undergraduate degree in Telecommunications and Information Security, electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or related disciplines from a recognized institution.
  • A grade point average of 5.0/9.0 (B+ average) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.
Indian Student Eligibility:
  • Students must complete a Bachelor’s (4 years) degree in Telecommunications and Information Security,  electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or related disciplines from a recognized institution.
  • Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.
