Program Description

  • The Master of Architecture(M.Arch) is a 3-year degree at the University of British Columbia(UBC).
  • This is a Co-op program which provides the work-experience in dealing with the real-world problem.
  • A complete, accredited curriculum, provides the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) approved professional standing.
  • This standing is equivalent to the US National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB).
  • The student will gain valuable skills in:
    • design and visualization
    • a variety of digital media tools
    • communication and presentations
    • project management and organization
  • Some of the subjects taught in this program are Environmental Systems and Controls I, Architectural Design Studio III, Architectural Technology II, Contemporary Theories in Architecture, Research Methods.
  • In the third year, there will be two projects namely Graduate Project 1 and 2.
  • The university offers well over 100-course support positions every year, from teaching assistantships to researching in faculty-led labs.

Academic Eligibility:
  • The student must have a bachelor's degree in architecture at any recognized university.
Language Requirement:
  • The students whose official language is not English are required to submit the scores of English Language Proficiency tests like TOEFL or IELTS.
