Program Description
- Bachelor of Arts in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge is offered on a full-time basis for a duration of 4 years.
- It is an on-campus program.
- The Chemical Engineering course at Cambridge is fully accredited leading to BA and MEng qualifications, with the option to graduate after three years with the BA degree.
- The Department has strong links with industry and graduates of the course are very much in demand.
- It is small enough for everyone to know each other but large enough to provide excellent facilities ranging from state-of-the-art research.
- There are usually about 65 undergraduate students who get admitted each year.
- The pattern in the first year depends on the route chosen, i.e. Engineering or Natural Sciences.
- These routes provide equally good preparation for becoming a chemical engineer and are taken up by a similar number of students.
- In the first year, there would normally be three hours of small group teaching each week.
- Students have to attend 12 hours of lectures per week and three afternoons spent on laboratory or project work.
- After the first year, all lectures and laboratories are organized by the Department. Lectures are concentrated into the mornings, leaving the afternoons free for laboratory classes, project meetings, small group teaching, presentations, and seminars.
- There are on average 10 hour-long lectures each week, and the second year involves around 4 hours per week of set laboratory or computing classes.
- There are plenty of extra-curricular activities that are undertaken by chemical engineering students. These include sport, music, drama, and events arranged by the numerous University and College Societies.
- This department is one of the UK's leading research departments, ranking highly in both national and international university league tables.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students are expected to have Mathematics to A-level (A* or A grade), Advanced Higher (A grade), Higher Level in the IB (40-42 points, with 776 at Higher Level), or another equivalent.
- Students have A Level/IB Higher Level Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Cambridge English: C1 Advanced – accepted with a minimum overall score of 193, with no element lower than 185, plus an assessment by the Language Centre.
- Cambridge English: C2 Proficiency – accepted with a minimum overall score of 200, with no element lower than 185.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
- CISCE and NIOS - Students will require scores of 90% or higher in five or more relevant subjects
- CBSE - Students will require five or more A1 grades in relevant subjects
- State Boards - Students will be considered on a case by case basis. Students will typically require scores of 95% or equivalent in five or more relevant subjects.
- College Board Advanced Placement Tests - offers for all Cambridge courses may be made conditional on achieving grades of 5 in five or more AP Tests
- IIT-JEE (Advanced) - offers for Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Natural Sciences (Physical) may be made conditional on a rank of <2000 in the IIT JEE (Advanced)
- STEP - offers for Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics may be conditional on achievement in STEP.
