Program Description

  • Bachelor of Science in Geophysics at Imperial College London is a 3-year program.
  • It is an on-campus, 180 credits program offered on a full-time basis.
  • In this program, students learn how to apply mathematical and physical laws to the study of the Earth in this professionally accredited degree.
  • It is a  theory and practice program, including a variety of field trips in the UK and abroad.
  • In the final year, students complete an independent field study and research project.
  • Students on Geology courses spend six weeks mapping the geology of areas such as the: Greek Cyclades, French Massif Central, Pyrenees, French Alps, North West Scotland, and others.
  • The teaching methods of the program includes lectures, tutorials, fieldwork, group exercises, and laboratory work.
  • Students have the chance to gain experience in using technical equipment in the field.
  • Students on Earth and Planetary Science courses join Geology students for the same field trips and have the option to join the independent mapping project.
  • This degree is professionally accredited by the Geological Society of London.

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students must have three A-level (A*A*A) overall, which include:
    • A in Mathematics
    • A in Physics
  • Students must have 38 points overall, to include 6 in Mathematics, 6 in Physics, 6 in another subject at a higher level.
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility: Students studying class XII will be expected to attain a very high level in relevant subjects. Grades expected to depend on the board with which they are studying are:
  • CISCE - ISC - Students will require scores of 90% overall across five subjects with a score of 90 to 95% in relevant subjects
  • CBSE – AISSE - Students will require a rank on the common merit list from a good performance in the JEE advanced
