Program Description

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Genomic Medicine at Imperial College London is 8 months program.
  • It is a blended 60 credits program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This program is also offered on a part-time basis for a duration of 2 years.
  • The program is aimed at students from a wide range of backgrounds, from basic scientists to all levels of healthcare professionals, and will provide a flexible, multi-disciplinary, and multi-professional perspective in genomics, applied to clinical practice and medical research.
  • The program runs successfully through a combination of educational materials and opportunities to interact online alongside more traditional teaching methods.
  • This blended format of delivery consists of teaching sessions (face-to-face or made available online), live webinars, discussion fora, formative and summative assessments.
  • This program is made up of three progress levels (PG Cert, PG Dip, and MSc).
  • The core modules of the program are:
    • Fundamentals in Human Genetics and Genomics
    • Omics Technologies and their Application to Genomic Medicine
    • Application of Genomics in Infectious Disease
    • Molecular Pathology of Cancer and Application in Cancer Diagnosis, Screening, and Treatment
    • Genomics of Common and Rare Inherited Diseases
    • Bioinformatics, Quality Control, Analysis and Interpretation of Genome Sequencing Data
  • The modules will consist of one week of face-to-face teaching and up to 3 weeks of e-learning and independent study.
  • The modules are offered on a cycle of 12 months so that all modules become available once in each 12-month cycle.
  • The teaching-learning of the program includes lectures, interactive workshops, journal clubs, online modules, and student presentations.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students must have a 2:1 degree in a relevant medical, biomedical, or healthcare subject from a recognized university.
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility: Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
  • Students should have completed a 3-4 year bachelor's degree from a mainstream university (state/federal or deemed institution) passed with the required grades.
  • Students for research should hold a 3 to 4-year bachelor's degree and master's degree, both passed with required grades.
  • Applicants from elite institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average of 7 / 10 or 60%. These are the College minimum scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.
  • Applicants from other approved institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average ranging from 7.5-8 / 10 or 65-70%.
