Program Description
Conestoga College’s two-year diploma in Advertising & Marketing Communications is a rewarding, cross-disciplinary program that equips students to be a creative and strategic thinker, with the ability to engage with on-trend brands, craft strategic marketing campaigns through social platforms, and have the confidence and skill set that the industry demands.Taught by passionate, award-winning faculty, students will learn the essential aspects of marketing research, B2B and B2C sales strategies, social media campaigns, brand development, UI/UX design, copywriting, public relations and visual design as they apply to a variety of media applications. By leveraging a research-based methodology to problem solving, and using current industry software, students will learn to create, persuade, and entice audiences with targeted communication pieces that span a wide range of advertising mediums.
The program’s live-client capstone project offers students the opportunity to develop and present a comprehensive integrated marketing communications campaign, including budgeting and full creative content creation. Working individually and collaboratively, students will also develop professional business acumen through managing project expectations, delivering campaign collateral, and meeting tight deadlines for their client. Valuable networking opportunities are provided through inspiring agency tours, knowledgeable industry guest speakers, and a globally diverse cohort of like-minded creative peers.
To finalize the program, students will receive guidance on developing agency and industry contacts, creating a unique and competitive portfolio, establishing an exciting career path, and landing an advertising or marketing-related field placement. Students can begin the process of establishing their career path as a sought-after communication marketing strategist and visual-thinking creative specialist today, with Advertising & Marketing Communications.
Other Requirements
- Grade 12 with minimum 50%. Admission Requirements - Grade 12 compulsory English or equivalent OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications or equivalent with a minimum of 70%. A sound English background is important for success in this program and is considered during the admission selection process. Portfolio presentation is required. Program requirements - It is recommended that applicants to the program possess a strong interest in creative design, creative writing and promotions. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) is an asset.
- In case the program has three semesters in a year, annual tuition fee may increase for one additional semester. This program requires applicants to submit a portfolio as part of the admission process. Students in this program are required to bring mobile devices that meet minimum specified requirements.
