Program Description
This 8-month Ontario College Certificate is ideal for students who would like to assume a front-line role in a medical, dental, or wellness office, or a clerical support role in long-term care or the insurance industry. Students will gain a working knowledge of the medical terminology, computer technologies and office practices that are vital components of today's busy medical, dental and wellness offices. Through hands-on application with industry Electronic Medical Records software (EMR) and a simulated work environment, students will learn medical and wellness office tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, and medical document production, as well as hone their professional verbal, written communication and customer service skills. When students successfully complete the Medical Office Practices certificate, they may choose to apply to the second year of the Health Office Administration diploma with advanced standing.Extra Notes
