  • St. Lawrence College offers a Diploma in Health Information Management of 2 years.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This program prepares graduates to work in many different health settings, using the latest in information technology to contribute to quality patient care.
  • In this program, students have to study bio­medical sciences, health information sciences, electronic record systems, statistical analysis, and health law.
  • Students will develop teamwork and presentation skills.
  • This program is recognized by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
  • Students from the health sciences programs on placement are covered by Workplace Safety and Insurance Board(WSIB) coverage in the event of an incident.
  • The HIM program offers students up to 332 hours of practicum experience throughout the year.
  • Graduates will be eligible to write the national certifica­tion examination administered by CHIMA and will be entitled to use the credentials CHIM to denote their professional designation.
  • Jop opportunities for students to work in hos­pitals, family health networks, health research agencies, legal firms, government agencies, and other varied community health services.

Academic Eligibility:
  • Students have to complete Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U, or M level including the following prerequisites:
    • Grade 12 English at the C or U level
    • Grade 11 Math at the C, U, or M level
    • Grade 11 or 12 Biology at the C or U level.
Indian Student Eligibility:
  • The students must have completed 10th and intermediate i.e 12th grade which has the minimum with 60% marks.
  • The minimum qualification required to attend this program is a higher secondary school certificate.
  • Copies of original documents should be attested by the educational institution.
  • School Record of Diploma/Degree certificate Mark sheets for each year of study is required.
