Program Description
- St. Lawrence College offers a Diploma in Computer Systems Technician for a duration of 2 years.
- It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
- This program will prepare the student in the dynamic and expanding field of client/server computing, cloud computing, O/S virtualization, enterprise networks, administration, and Internet management.
- Students complete a work placement component that provides on-the-job training with a local company in their final semester.
- Students receive hands-on training in:
- Computer hardware
- Applied Internet technology
- Software installation
- Network installation
- Operating systems
- Maintenance and User support
- Operating system virtualization
- Learning takes place in both classrooms and computer labs. Faculty bring a wealth of real-world experiences to the classroom.
- Most courses have 3 tests and 3 assignments evenly spread throughout the semester. Students should expect to spend up to 18 hours on homework a week outside of the classroom.
- As part of the fourth semester, students spend 16 hours per week on the job in a business environment as part of the work placement.
- A number of courses in the curriculum are delivered in dedicated a lab using exclusively assigned computers, virtual servers, and diverse equipment.
- Many of the courses in the CN&TS program train the students towards obtaining Microsoft, A+, LPIC-1, and Network + certifications.
- Graduates of the CN&TS program can turn their diploma into Bachelor of Science in Computing in Systems & Networking Degree in just one year (2 academic semesters) in Ireland at the Institute of Technology Sligo.
- The average salary of the program goes up to 39,000 USD.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students have to complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U, or M level including the following prerequisites:
- Grade 12 English at the C or M level
- Grade 11 Math at the C, or Level.
- The students must have completed 10th and intermediate i.e 12th grade which has the minimum with 60% marks.
- The minimum qualification required to attend this program is a higher secondary school certificate.
- Copies of original documents should be attested by the educational institution.
- School Record of Diploma/Degree certificate Mark sheets for each year of study is required.
