Program Description

Program Description

  • Bachelor of Arts in Physics at Princeton University is offered as a 4-year teaching program.
    • This bachelor program has a co-op work option.
    • In order to be eligible to participate in a full-time Co-op Work Term, students must meet the GPA requirements.
    • The student to faculty ratio is 18:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
    • Some of the main courses that students will study in this program are:
      • Thermodynamics
      • Quantum physics
      • Geophysics
      • Fluid dynamics
      • Astronomy
    • Concentrating in physics at Princeton will not only teach students about the structure of physical law, but it will allow them to take part in its discovery.
    • Along the way students will learn to "think like a physicist" -- a hard-to-describe skill combining practiced intuition, the scientific method, and a knack for approximation -- and they will develop powerful, broadly-applicable problem-solving skills.
    • Physics majors are prepared not only for a career in physics but in many other fields as well.
    • Physics alumni may be found in academic and industrial physics research positions as well as consulting, medicine, law, teaching, biotechnology, and engineering careers.
    • In fact, the Physics Department has made a concerted effort to make its core requirements more flexible, allowing a greater variety of programs of study that satisfy the major requirements.
    • Career positions may include:
      • Accelerator Operator
      • Applications Engineer
      • Data Analyst
      • Design Engineer
      • High School Physics Teacher
      • IT Consultant, etc with an average salary of 35,450 USD per year.
