Program Description
As a Motive Power Technician with a focus on the automotive sector, you can choose to operate your own automotive shop or work as an Automotive Service Technician or Parts Manager at an automotive body shop or commercial dealership.
- Hands-on, experiential learning opportunities include analyzing and solving complex motive system problems and diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electronic and electrical motive power components and systems.
- Use the latest technical equipment in state-of-the-art labs.
- Gain practical experience using troubleshooting techniques and test equipment to support automotive transportation in a co-op work term.
- Gain exposure to current motive power technology in one-of-a-kind electric vehicle lab.
Other Requirements
- Grade 12 with 50% and above. Grade 11 Math and Grade 12 English required. Recommended Courses : College and Apprenticeship Mathematics – Grade 12, Physics – Grade 11 or Grade 12, Transportation Technology – Grade 11 or Grade 12
- Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. State Secondary School Board All required courses = 55% required & 10 + 2 English = 65% required. State Technical Education Board All required courses = 65% required, 10 + 2 English = 70% requied.
