Program Description
As a Hairstyling graduate, you qualified for entry into a hairstyling apprenticeship leading to a rewarding career helping clients look and feel their best.- Gain fundamental knowledge of hair design through hands-on learning in current hairstyling labs.
- Work closely with industry employers to learn innovative technical skills and styling trends.
- Learn from experienced faculty who encourage individual creativity.
- Graduates are eligible to register with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development as an apprentice in order to complete on-the-job, in-salon training.
- Completion of the apprenticeship term qualifies graduates to write the Provincial Certificate of Qualification Exam (C of Q) for their Hairstylist Provincial Licence.
NC Teaching Hair Salon
The NC Teaching Hair Salon is an educational salon serviced by students of the Niagara College Hairstyling and Hairstylist Apprenticeship programs in the Pavilion building at the Welland CampusOther Requirements
- Grade 12 with 50% or above from a recognised institution. Grade 12 English required.
- Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. State Secondary School Board All required courses = 55% required & 10 + 2 English = 65% required. State Technical Education Board All required courses = 65% required, 10 + 2 English = 70% requied.
