Program Description

As a Welding Technician, you work closely with engineers, are skilled at determining the cutting, fitting and welding sequence, and have a thorough understanding of manufacturing codes and standards across a wide variety of industries.
  • Hands-on experiential learning in a state-of-the-art, full-size weld shop and fabrication lab, which is an accredited Canadian Welding Bureau and Technical Standards & Safety Authority test centre facility.
  • Gain practical experience taking metal fabrication projects from engineering drawings through cutting and forming stages to welding processes.
  • Gain an understanding of industry-standard inspection procedures.
  • Shares a common first year with NC's Welding Techniques program.

Other Requirements

  • Grade 12 with 50% and above. Math required. Recommended Courses : Technological Design – Grade 11 or Grade 12
  • Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. State Secondary School Board All required courses = 55% required & 10 + 2 English = 65% required. State Technical Education Board All required courses = 65% required, 10 + 2 English = 70% requied.
