Program Description
As a Photonics Engineering Technician, you possess the skills to build, install, test and maintain optical or fibre optic equipment, including lasers, to create innovative devices for use in the manufacturing, medicine, and telecommunications industries.
- NC offers Ontario’s only Photonics Engineering Technician program, with graduates in high demand.
- Hands-on experiential learning via Canada’s largest undergraduate photonic labs and teaching clean-room facility.
- Gain advanced skills in precision optics, electro-optics, fibre-optics and laser technologies.
- Graduates may opt for direct workforce entry or complete NC’s Photonics Engineering Technology program with an additional year of study.
Other Requirements
- Grade 12 with 50% and above. Math required. Recommended Courses : Physics – Grade 11 or Grade 12
- Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. State Secondary School Board All required courses = 55% required & 10 + 2 English = 65% required. State Technical Education Board All required courses = 65% required, 10 + 2 English = 70% requied.
