Program Description
As a Civil Engineering Technician, you play an important role in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, highways, dams, drainage and irrigation systems, streets, parks, subdivisions, and water supply and sewer systems.
- Gain broad knowledge and hands-on, experiential learning in computer-aided drafting applications, lab testing, structural design, geotechnical analysis, project management, and more.
- Graduates are eligible to write the house component of the Ontario Building Code exam.
- Immediate associate member status, upon application, with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) post-graduation.
- Program is nationally accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada.
- Graduates choose between workforce entry or progression into NC’s Construction Engineering Technology program.
Other Requirements
- Grade 12 with 50% and above. Math and English required. Recommended Courses : Construction Technology – Grade 11 or Grade 12, Information and Communications Technology – Grade 11, Physics – Grade 11 or Grade 12, Technological Design – Grade 11 or Grade 12
- Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. State Secondary School Board All required courses = 55% required & 10 + 2 English = 65% required. State Technical Education Board All required courses = 65% required, 10 + 2 English = 70% requied.
