Program Description
The Commercial Cannabis Production program provides training in the biological and cultural practices of cannabis production including plant nutrition, environment, lighting, climate control, pest control and cultivar selection.
- Design and implement plant nutrition, lighting and pest management programs.
- Develop expertise to become a Master Grower and Micro Cultivator License holder.
- Learn craft cannabis growing skills.
- Analyze crop and adapt to growth conditions/pest management strategies.
- Comply with regulatory and trade requirements for safe and legal production and packaging.
- Create production plans for the procurement of raw materials and ensure a consistent supply of high-quality crops.
- Develop and implement a system to accurately document and track crop production costs. Interpret budgets and financial statements to inform efficient cannabis production operations.
- Plan and oversee the allocation of staffing and space to support the execution of production plans.
- Comply with and execute appropriate security protocols.
- Internship at a Health Canada Cannabis production License Holder.
Other Requirements
- Minimum 50% in Bachelor’s Degree in areas of Horticulture, Greenhouse Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biology or a related discipline from a recognised university.

- Submission of a portfolio which will undergo evaluation and ranking by program coordinators in order to render an admission decision (if the applicant possesses a degree outside of those accepted for direct admission) _x000D_
- Specific age and/or country requirements_x000D_ _x000D_ Niagara College does not accept students from Open schooling and Distance Education System. Education Gap:Student completed most recent studies within 5 years from start of the program (Example: if the program begins in 2018, applicants must have completed their last program of study no earlier than 2013 Student does not have more than 9 backlogs in university study. All required courses = 55% required.
