Program Description

Our accredited BSc allows you to study two scientific areas to understand the complexities of the human brain and how this impacts our behaviour, thoughts and emotions.Psychology will equip you with a well-rounded education and in addition to studying the principal areas specified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) curriculum, you will have the opportunity to tailor your degree to reflect your career aspirations and interests with our suite of optional modules.Principle areas of psychology include: biological, cognitive, social and developmental psychology as well as individual differences and historical issues. You will gain fundamental scientific skills in research design, statistics, qualitative and survey methods. With this knowledge, you will learn how to conduct research and critically analyse that of others.
Neuroscience is a constanty evolving discipline that explores the brain, from how it enables us to sense and move through our environment, to degeneration in health and in disease. With over 600 types of neurological conditions currently identified (NHS England), understanding how the brain and nervous system work is integral to the future of human health and well-being.You'll be equipped with the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge used by Neuroscientists (typically research scientists) in their quest to design and carry out experiments to understand more about the brain and nervous system.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT IN PSYCHOLOGY

In your final year you will have the opportunity to work with one of our expert academics to carry out and report an investigation of a research topic that aligns with your career aspirations or personal interests.Final year project topics from previous Psychology students include:

  • Sleep and mental health
  • Detecting deception in others
  • Victims and forgiveness

PSYCHOLOGY SUMMER RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP SCHEME

Our Psychology summer research assistantship scheme is a paid opportunity during your second or third year that enables you to work alongside a member of staff on a research project. The experience and skills you will gain, such as data analysis, can really help you stand out from the crowd when applying for employment or postgraduate study. Please note there is an application process for this scheme and the number of projects available will vary each year.

  • CISCE / CBSE / West Bengal Class XII: 60% - 90% required depending on course. Subjects Requirements : - Maths with 70% and English with 60% All other State Boards Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Standard Class XII: 65% - 95% required depending on course.Subjects Requirements : - Maths with 70% and English with 60% 2 years of study must have been completed.
  • For IELTS Waiver : CISCE/CBSE Class XII: 70% or above. All other State Boards Class XII (except Punjab or Mohali School Education Board): 75% or above in English, depending on course.Study should be taught in English. Otherwise IELTS is required.
