Program Description
Studying a combined honours in Computer Science and Forensic Science gives you the opportunity to develop a wide range of expertise and skills in two exciting subjects. Initial modules are designed to bring everyone up to speed and you will learn the key themes that underpin each discipline. In computer science you will explore the fundamentals of programming, computing and gain the professional skills required for effective academic study.The forensic science element of the course focuses on the entire forensic process, from evidence collection, analysis and interpretation to court reporting. Initial modules including forensic chemistry, forensic biology and criminalistic science, will build your understanding in the key topics underpinning the subject. You will also gain valuable laboratory and crime scene experience to help you stay ahead in this fast-moving science. Teaching will take place in Keele's state-of-the-art Central Science Laboratories and our dedicated Crime Scene facilities. The programme will culminate with the opportunity to unleash your creativity and apply the techniques you have acquired throughout your studies by completing a final year forensic research project and a computer science project.Final year forensic science project topics from previous students include:
- Analysis of post-mortem bone trauma
- Analysis of trace evidence -identification of drugs in latent fingerprints
- Long-term geophysical monitoring of simulated clandestine graves of murder victims
- Wildlife forensics –assessment of presumptive tests on non-human blood
- Forensic odontology -bite marks
- Investigating the appearance of aged fingerprints

- CISCE / CBSE / West Bengal Class XII: 60% - 90% required depending on course. Subjects Requirements : - Maths with 60% and English with 60% All other State Boards Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Standard Class XII: 65% - 95% required depending on course.Subjects Requirements : - Maths with 70% and English with 60% 2 years of study must have been completed.
- For IELTS Waiver : CISCE/CBSE Class XII: 70% or above. All other State Boards Class XII (except Punjab or Mohali School Education Board): 75% or above in English, depending on course.Study should be taught in English. Otherwise IELTS is required.
