Program Description
The MRes Science Fiction Studies is a Masters-level programme allowing you the opportunity to pursue your own research projects of 30,000-35,000 words within a specialist topic area. Offered both full- and part-time, and on campus on online, you can choose to study at your own pace.As the University of Liverpool hosts significant archives in the field, being the largest such specialist repository in Europe, the MRes Science Fiction Studies enables students who do not wish to pursue a taught MA programme (such as the MA English Literature: Science Fiction Studies) to produce an extended project to further demonstrate advanced research skills and specialist knowledge. The programme is delivered through a combination of group training sessions and individual supervisions, with all group sessions being taught online as a norm, and individual supervisions being either online or on-campus.Why English?

Recent conferences include ‘On Liberties’ at Gladstone's Library, and ‘Renaissance Old Worlds’ in collaboration with the British Library. A legacy from former tutor Miriam Allott has allowed the department to host a vibrant series of international poetry readings, and with its Centre for New and International Writing and Literature and Science Hub, the Department of English continues to attract a range of outstanding, international speakers.Other Requirements
