Program Description
The programme focuses not only on technical areas such as sound recording and music production, but also allows you to explore other creative and experimental applications of music technology. You will underpin your technology practice with specialist theoretical, historical and contextual modules, and will have the option to develop your performance skills in either popular or classical music.Alongside your technology-focused modules, you will be able to choose from a wide range of popular and classical music modules. This means you can also study classical or popular music performance, classical or popular music composition, or the music industry; or more specialist topics such as music psychology and music for film, TV and games.Your first year will comprise of three compulsory modules which will introduce you to the foundations of sound technology, sound recording, production, and electronic music. In your second and final years, you will have the opportunity to focus on the areas that interest you most, and to undertake an independent project in creative music technology.Year in industry
This programme is available with an optional year in industry. If you choose this option, year three is spent on a paid placement within an organisation in industry, broadly defined. You will be supported by the School of the Arts and the Department throughout, and your reflexive written account of the experience will contribute towards your final degree result. If you wish to study this programme with a year in industry, please put the option code ‘YI’ in the ‘further choices’ section of your UCAS application form.Other Requirements
- Successful completion of examinations at standard X and XII (Higher Secondary School Certificate) with minimum marks of approximately 70 to 85%, according to the course and exam board.Please note: Sometimes your offer will be made on condition of you achieving an overall score in your XII standard exams, while some programmes will ask for specific scores in certain subjects. As such, any subject-specific requirements will reflect the overall percentage required (eg. 85% in best four subjects, including 85% in Maths), along with the individual score for each subject.
- For IELTS Waive off , you require 70% and above in English in Standard XII for CBSE/CISCE/WB/Karnataka/Maharashtra/TamilNadu/Andhra Pradesh/Kerala/Telangana/Goa/Delhi/Sikkhim/Gujarat/Meghalaya boards.
