Program Description

The degree allows you to study the society and culture of antiquity, including its literature, art, history and archaeology. If you have no previous experience of either Greek or Latin, the introductory level modules are designed to move you towards reading texts in their original languages as swiftly as possible. The more advanced modules allow for in-depth study of a wide variety of authors. You will have the advantage of expert tuition, often in very small groups, and the opportunity to develop specialist interests. Classics students also acquire the critical skills necessary for the interpretation of written evidence, to understand methodological issues and contemporary theories relevant to the study of ancient languages and societies.

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of examinations at standard X and XII (Higher Secondary School Certificate) with minimum marks of approximately 70 to 85%, according to the course and exam board.Please note: Sometimes your offer will be made on condition of you achieving an overall score in your XII standard exams, while some programmes will ask for specific scores in certain subjects. As such, any subject-specific requirements will reflect the overall percentage required (eg. 85% in best four subjects, including 85% in Maths), along with the individual score for each subject.
  • For IELTS Waive off , you require 70% and above in English in Standard XII for CBSE/CISCE/WB/Karnataka/Maharashtra/TamilNadu/Andhra Pradesh/Kerala/Telangana/Goa/Delhi/Sikkhim/Gujarat/Meghalaya boards.
