Program Description

This MSc Financial Mathematics programme will equip you with the mathematical and computational skills required in the finance and insurance industries.  - Probability theory, stochastic analysis and mathematical modelling- Computational methods- Financial derivatives- Risk management- Econometrics This program is ideal for professionals with mathematical background who would like to start, or further develop a career in the finance and insurance industries. It is also an excellent training ground for students wishing to embark upon a research degree (PhD) in financial or actuarial mathematics.
The 12-month programme consists of seven taught compulsory modules plus one taught elective module, followed by a research project carried out over the summer period upon completion of Semester Two. The later project offers the opportunity to undertake an in-depth study of a topic of your choice and supervised by an expert in the field. The program is taught by members of the Institute for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics which is part of the Department of Mathematical Sciences jointly with members of the Management School.EmployabilityWe listen to employers’ needs. Other Requirements

  • This is a challenging programme so you’ll need a good first degree (2:1 Hons or equivalent) in Mathematics, Mathematical Sciences, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a subject with substantial mathematical content.
  • For IELTS Waive off , you require 70% and above in English in Standard XII for CBSE/CISCE/WB/Karnataka/Maharashtra/TamilNadu/Andhra Pradesh/Kerala/Telangana/Goa/Delhi/Sikkhim/Gujarat/Meghalaya boards..Three-year Bachelor's degrees like BComs can be accepted, but sometimes the content covered in such degrees does not provide adequate grounding for our more specialised programmes such as MSc Finance.We also accept, as evidence of English language skills, an undergraduate degree from one of the following Indian universities (including affiliated colleges): Anna University Mumbai University Pune University Bangalore University University of Delhi University of Madras Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT)
